Default Question from WoW player for other WoW/Ex WoWs

What is the impact of Gear in GW?, if you play WoW you know what im asking about.

Im currently playing WoW and farming aq40. Naxx is incoming and then the cycle continues (and never ends) with the BC expansion. I play WoW and MMorpgs for pvp hence I raid in WoW not for the sake of raiding itself but to maintain my characters competitivness in pvp.

I am tired of raiding, im also tired of the amount of time it requires to be a raider (5 days a week all evening spent in a instance grinding for loot). I am considering moving to a new game where I can still compete in pvp without the need for such time consuming pre requisites.

So basically in GW once you reach the lvl cap or whatever way it is in this game what extra time is involved in keeping your character competetive and what impact does gear have on the game.

Thx

Max gear is obviously very important but the availability of such equipment is widespread. For PvE characters, the maximum armor is generally obtained shortly after reaching level 20. As for weaponry, collector weapons with maxed mods are to be found from traders/collectors.

When PvPing, you can also make a character at max level with all max items assuming you have unlocked the mods. This allows you to tweak your gear however you like for free, once you have the unlocks (either by faction redemption or finding them in pve).

There's no "keeping up with the Jones's" in GW, except as far as following the metagame. That is to say, you don't need to grind for eight hours to get the Ogre Slaying Knife +7 this week, and 12 hours to get Ogre Slaying Knife +8 next week. Instead, you need to be familiar with the most common builds being played, and have a plan to beat them. Right now in Hero's Ascent, you'd need to know how to send Dual Smite packing, while still keeping the tools to beat IWAY, etc...
